Releasing Through the Legs: About the Course
“Don’t Skip Leg Day” is generally good advice. From the perspective of internal cultivation, not only is it good advice, it is essential if you want to have internal stability and strong grounding. Our awareness tends to easily want to rise into the mind, but to bring it down through the legs is much more difficult. Even more, if the legs are tight and unavailable, this will keep the awareness stuck in the mind in the same way that squeezing the base of a toothpaste tube pushes all the toothpaste to the top. To be able to release the awareness through the legs requires the pathways within the legs to be open. This means we have to confront all the holding patterns, weak links and tensions within the legs and let them work until they are strong enough to release; after all, our system won’t release anything which feels suspicious, weak or unsafe in any way. The work can be grueling at times as the transformational fires melt through the blockages, but the results are nothing short of extraordinary. Open legs make moving around and through the world a breeze, long practices become accessible and walks up steps and steep inclines become pleasurable once more.

Having trained in athletic endeavours, my legs were quite strong and flexible but super tight and rigid. This prevented me from grounding effectively and for a long time caused me to be stuck in the turmoil of the mind. Once I discovered how to properly open the legs and let the pressure through, it became apparent that no amount of mental gymnastics was going to quieten and stabilize the mind - I needed to drop the energy out of the head entirely and into the ground. As I developed (and continue to refine) this quality, it has become apparent that it is not very well addressed in the modern world. This course is my effort to change that and help more people find stability and calmness, as well as developing strong legs that will keep them going until old age!
